The current mint variety is the result of a combination of water mint and spearmint. It was first cultivated in 1750 near London.

Basic Properties: Aphrodisiac, antispasmodic, aromatic, diaphoretic, antiemetic, neurotonic, antiseptic, analgesic, aphrodisiac

therapeutic use: for indigestion and bloating, irritable bowel syndrome, intestinal colic, for nausea and vomiting, gingivitis, headache, common cold, cholelithiasis, dysmenorrhea

Culinary use : Mint flavors salads, vegetables, meat dishes and meat dishes (mainly in English, Eastern and Mediterranean cuisine). It goes well with lamb, other types of meat and with fish.
It gives a refined flavor to eggplants, baked foods, peas, cabbage and carrots, yogurt, white cheese, fruit salads and cocktails.


How is it used:

the leaves as an infusion: 1 teaspoon in a cup of boiled water for 10 minutes. Drink 3-4 times a day between meals.

Special precautions:
Peppermint tea is generally considered safe for regular consumption. It should be avoided by people with chronic heartburn, severe liver damage, gallbladder inflammation, or bile duct obstruction.
Peppermint tea should be used with caution in children, as there may be a choking reaction from the strong menthol. An alternative option for colic in children is chamomile.
