Ivy leaves were important to the ancients, as they were worn by Dionysus and symbolized eternal youth. The ancient Greeks believed that a wreath of ivy leaves could ward off the effects of intoxication.
Basic Properties: antispasmodic of the lung muscles, expectorant, emmenagogue, antipyretic, diaphoretic
Uses: internally for bronchitis, whooping cough, asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, cough, gallstones
externally with poultice or ointment preparation for cellulite , stretch marks, lice, burns
we take baths with ivy leaves in hot water for neuralgia and rheumatic pains
How is it used:
as an infusion: 1/2 teaspoon in 1 cup of boiled water for about 10-15 minutes. Drink 2 times a day.
