An essential oil is a liquid that is distilled (most often with steam or water) from the leaves, shoots, flowers, bark, roots, or other parts of a plant.
Essential oils, contrary to the use of the word "oil," are not actually oils. Most essential oils are clear, but some oils like patchouli, orange, and lemongrass have an amber or yellow hue.
Essential oils contain the true essence of the plant from which they came.
Always remember that they are concentrated and a few drops are enough for their use.
Essential oils are not the same as perfumes or fragrance oils. While essential oils are derived from actual plants, fragrance oils are artificially created or contain artificial substances and do not offer the therapeutic benefits that essential oils offer.
