The Astragalus plant, also known as Huáng Qí or Milkvetch, is an herb best known for its use in traditional Chinese medicine . There are over 2,000 species worldwide, but the Chinese species that grows in N. China and the Yunnan and Sichuan regions has been pharmacologically tested. We use its dried root.
Modern phytochemistry and pharmacological experiments have proven that Astragalus polysaccharides (APS) are one of the most important active ingredients (it also contains saponins, coumarins, flavonoids) in the root of Astragalus membranaceus with multifaceted and significant bioactivity, such as: immunomodulatory*, antioxidant, anticancer, anti-diabetic, antiviral, hepatoprotective, anti-inflammatory, anti-atherosclerotic, hematopoietic and neuroprotective. ( * immunomodulatory : It does not cause artificial enhancement of the immune system but restores it to its normal levels)
Astragalus is believed to prolong life and is used to treat many ailments, including fatigue, allergies, and the common cold. It is also used against heart disease, diabetes, and other conditions.

What is the recommended dosage & method of use?
Typically, 1000mg of Astragalus root powder (one gram) is used 2-3 times a day, dissolved in water, juice, broths, soups, etc.
Special precautions:
For most people, astragalus is well tolerated. However, minor side effects have been reported in studies, including rash, itching, runny nose, nausea, and diarrhea.
Although Astragalus is a safe herb for most people, the following people should avoid it or discuss it with their doctor:
Pregnant and breastfeeding women: There is currently not enough research to prove that astragalus is safe during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
People with autoimmune diseases or taking immunosuppressive medications : While Astragalus has shown immunomodulatory properties in some studies, it may increase your immune system's activity. Consider avoiding astragalus if you have an autoimmune disease, such as multiple sclerosis, lupus, or rheumatoid arthritis, or discuss this with your doctor.
The herb Astragalus because it has an effect (lowering) on blood sugar levels and blood pressure. Use with caution if you have diabetes or have problems with your blood pressure
