Basic Properties: Anti-inflammatory, antirheumatic, antacid, antiemetic, astringent, diuretic, contains salicylates (milder than Willow)
Uses: For digestive problems, soothes the mucous membranes of the gastrointestinal tract, for heartburn, gastritis, peptic ulcers, reduces fever in colds and flu, helps relieve rheumatic pain.
How is it used:
The flowers or plant as an infusion: half to a teaspoon of dried Spirea in a cup of boiled water for 10-15 minutes. Drink 3 times a day or when needed.
Special precautions:
The use of Spirea should be avoided by people who are sensitive to aspirin.
Do not use in children as an antipyretic as there is a possibility of it leading to Reye's syndrome.
