Tanaceto (Tanacetum vulgare), Tansy
Other names: Tanacetum, Tanakito, Caryophyllus, Common Chrysanthemum, Thiranthemis
Basic Properties: Antiparasitic, vasodilator, bitter digestive, relaxing, emmenagogue, anti-inflammatory.
Use: Tansy acts as an anti-inflammatory, relaxes blood vessels, stimulates digestion and expels parasites . With the volatile substances, thujone and resin it contains, it is used against intestinal parasites (roundworms, pinworms and tapeworms). It increases blood circulation in the lower abdomen and acts as a uterine tonic . It also contributes against malarial fever .
How is it used:
Use tansy leaves as an infusion: Pour a cup of boiling water over 1 teaspoon of dried tansy and let it steep for 10-15 minutes. This drink should be drunk twice a day.
Tincture: 1-2 ml of chrysanthemum tincture three times a day.
Special precautions:
Tansy is not recommended during pregnancy and breastfeeding. We avoid its prolonged use because some of the components of the oil it contains are dangerous in large doses.
It should not be used by children under 2 years of age.
