Essiac tea: one of the most popular alternative treatments (and for cancer?) since 1922

Essiac tea is an herbal formula with a strong reputation and many testimonials citing its ability to treat cancer and was developed by a Canadian nurse, Rene Caisse, in 1922.

Rene Caisse had noticed some scar tissue on the breast of an elderly English patient. The elderly woman told her that doctors had diagnosed her with breast cancer years ago, but she did not want to risk surgery nor did she have the money.

The four main ingredients of Essiac:

1. Burdock root (Arctium lappa L.).- ARCTIUS
2. Inner bark of Elm (Ulmus fulva Michx.). - ELM
3. Sheep sorrel herb - LAPATHO
4. Indian Rhubarb root (Rheum palmatum L.). - RHUBENDI

How to use it:

1. Mix the ingredients well and store them in a glass jar in a dark, dry cupboard.
2. Take a measuring cup, use a ratio of 30g of the herbal mixture for every 1 liter of water , and weigh the amount you want to make.
3. Bring the water to a boil, reduce the heat and add the herbs, simmer for 10 minutes, then turn off the heat, cover and leave overnight (or for about 12 hours).
4. In the morning, heat it up a little without boiling, let it settle for a few minutes, then strain and put it in a hot, sterilized glass bottle and wait for it to cool.
5. After preparing it in liquid form, store it in the refrigerator.

Dosage-method of use:

As a preventative measure, drink a wineglassful of Essiac Tea diluted in half a cup of hot water daily. If you are experiencing a health problem , use the above dose three times a day.

Recommendations - observations

When using Essiac tea, also be aware that it can have a laxative effect and cause you to urinate more frequently than normal. This is, of course, due to its detoxifying properties. Some people report developing headaches, swollen glands, redness and inflammation of the skin, and flu-like symptoms, which are normal parts of the detoxification process.
