INULIN POWDER FROM CHICORY 100g - prebiotic action in the intestine

Highly soluble dietary fiber obtained from chicory root.

They can be easily added to many food and beverage products for nutritional benefit (Confectionery, Ice Cream, Beverages)

Inulin is a soluble dietary fiber (oligosaccharide) with positive effects on the gut microbiota . It is thought to help with irritable bowel syndrome , regulate fat and blood sugar metabolism , and relieve constipation and depression, among other things. It is considered a prebiotic (food for probiotics) and is often added to more and more foods due to its benefits and adaptability.

Key benefits of Inulin

Keeps you full (from fiber)
Inulin fiber is soluble, meaning it dissolves in water. It dissolves in the stomach and then forms a gelatinous substance that slows digestion, increases fullness, and reduces cholesterol absorption as it passes through the digestive tract.

Promotes digestive health
Inulin aids digestion by increasing the number of good bacteria in the gut, particularly Bifidobacteria and Lactobacilli.
These bacteria help ward off unwanted pathogens (bad bacteria), prevent infection, help boost your immune system, and improve intestinal tract conditions (e.g. irritable bowel syndrome).

Controls blood sugar
Inulin slows down digestion, including the digestion of carbohydrates. This allows for a slow release of sugar without spikes, which promotes healthy blood sugar levels.

It could potentially reduce the risk of colon cancer
Research shows that consumption of certain prebiotics, including inulin, is inversely associated with the risk of colon cancer. This suggests that taking inulin could help reduce the likelihood of developing this cancer and may even act as a preventative measure.

May improve symptoms of depression
According to 2023 research, certain probiotics — including inulin — may help reduce the severity of depression and may even help prevent its development.

Enhances the absorption of minerals
Inulin has been shown to enhance the absorption of certain minerals, such as calcium and magnesium, in the intestine, contributing to better bone health.

How to use & dosage

Dissolve in water/juice. Inulin powder is odorless with a neutral to slightly sweet taste.

A typical dose that is usually recommended is around 3 grams (g) per day.
However, a 2020 study on the treatment of irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) with constipation found that taking at least 12 g per day led to much greater stool frequency.

The parallel administration of probiotics is recommended.

Special precautions

Research has found that inulin is safe for human consumption. It is extremely unlikely to cause any kind of allergic reaction. That said, when you first start using inulin, you may experience digestive discomfort, such as excessive flatulence or loose stools.
Drink plenty of water when incorporating it into your diet and be sure to start with low doses. This will help you avoid digestive problems like bloating, diarrhea, or constipation.
If you are pregnant, you should talk to your doctor before taking any supplement, including inulin.
