EUFRASIA leaves

Eyebright leaves (Euphrasia officinalis, Eyebright)
The name Euphrasia denotes good mood (cheerfulness).

Key Properties: strong anti-catarrhal, astringent, anti-inflammatory, antibacterial

Uses
internally : runny nose, sinus infections, cough, sore throat
externally: conjunctivitis, stye, blepharitis, irritated eyes, relieves eye infections

How is it used:
Internally - as an infusion: 1/2 teaspoon in a cup of boiled water for 10-15 minutes. Drink up to 3 times a day.
Externally - as a compress: boil 1 tablespoon of dried herb in 2 cups of water for 10 minutes. Let it cool, covered, then dip the compress (made of cotton or sterile gauze) and place it on the eyes for 10-15 minutes several times a day.

Special precautions:
External use as a compress should be done with due care (clean hands and materials) to avoid contamination of the ocular area. Internal use is generally considered safe at the above doses. We do not know its safety during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
