POPCORN ORGANIC 500gr Greek
Popcorn, as its name suggests, comes from dried corn kernels. Each corn kernel contains a small drop of water that, when heated, turns into steam and expands until the walls of the kernel break and the long-awaited pop is heard. Then the white flake of popcorn is ready.
Why is popcorn healthy?
The raw material for popcorn is corn, one of the most nutritious grains.
Corn is rich in vitamins A and B.
Corn is rich in the antioxidants lutein and zeaxanthin which protect our eyes.
Homemade microwave popcorn is an ideal snack, with only 31 calories per cup.
Homemade popcorn may contain no salt, but it also contains no fat.
Microwave popcorn:
And it's not the pre-packaged stuff you get at the supermarket, which is loaded with salt and butter. Use a brown paper bag from the grocery store, put some dried corn kernels inside, then seal the bag tightly and microwave it. After about 2 minutes, or when the popping stops, the popcorn will be ready.
Popcorn on the stovetop:
This is the classic way to make it. Use a pot, cover the bottom with 1 layer of corn kernels and add the oil (about 1/3 cup of oil for every cup of kernels). Half-cover the pot with a lid so that air can circulate.
In any case, compared to store-bought popcorn, homemade popcorn can contain up to half the calories. One (1) cup of ready-made popcorn contains approximately 70 calories, microwave popcorn 30, and classic popcorn with oil 50.
