Paprika is the ground red pepper of the genus Capsicum annuum, which also includes hot peppers.
It originates from South and Central America and is now also cultivated mainly in the USA, Spain, Hungary and Turkey.
It was first brought to Europe by pirates.
Paprika quality is graded (ASTA grading). The brightest colored paprika is the highest ASTA grade and is the most expensive.
Key Properties : contains carotenoids, Vitamin C, increases metabolism and blood circulation
Culinary use: Enhances roasts, poultry, fish and vegetables. It is very tasty with French fries or in the oven and in egg dishes. Use it in soups, sauces, dips, salads, potatoes, sausages, salami, in meat, poultry, fish and ketchup preparations.
How is it used:
Sprinkle it on your food or use it in the marinade.
Special precautions:
Be careful with the dosage of smoked paprika, because its strong aroma overpowers the other flavors.
