In ancient times it was a symbol of cheerfulness and festive events.
Basic Properties: Diuretic, expectorant, emmenagogue, aphrodisiac, has a reputation as an aphrodisiac
Therapeutic use: for any condition that requires diuresis, it helps with menstruation, for bloating and colic pain.
Culinary use: One of the most useful herbs in cooking. Cool, bitter and spicy taste. Enhances potatoes, vegetables and salads of all kinds.
It also gives a spicy aroma to minced meat, fish, poultry, eggs and white cheese. Sliced, it is cooked in soups and stews.
How is it used:
For a drink as an infusion: 1 teaspoon in a cup of boiled water for 10 minutes. Drink 3 times a day.
Always have good quality dried parsley in your cupboard in case you run out of fresh. Also try it as an aromatic and easy garnish on quick bruschettas.
Special precautions:
Do not use parsley in therapeutic doses during pregnancy.
