It was once common for people to drink blackberry leaf tea to induce labor (raspberry leaf tea was also used for the same reason). However, drinking blackberry leaf tea during pregnancy is no longer an idea recommended by doctors or scientists.
How is it used:
the leaves as an infusion: 1 teaspoon (1.5 g) in 1 cup of water for 10-15 minutes. Drink up to 3 times a day.
Special precautions:
The tannins contained in the blackberry bush cause nausea and perhaps vomiting in people with sensitive stomachs. Taking the infusion with food may reduce the risk of gastrointestinal problems.
